Adorable

It seems as if the super-adorable Phillip Lim hand-wrote his invitations to the opening of his Los Angeles Store. So cute. I adore him. I'm sad he didn't invite me, though. I'm always been a big supporter of his, and am currently in love with one of his dresses covered with fringe in the back. ;)

Fringe Benefits

I tried this Phillip Lim dress on in Neiman's a couple months ago. I LOVE it. Fringe can be so hard to wear, but after trying on this dress, I've really been into it. I'm toying with the idea of sewing fringe onto a t-shirt. If only I had a sewing machine in my dorm room. I could make myself a navy blue shirt with black fringe. Mmm. Dark colors. I don't care if the weather's getting warm. It makes me want to wear brighter colors, but my real love is still black and navy blues and greys. Ugh I love that dress. If only I had a reason to get it.

3.1 Phillip Lim FW08

I have some mixed opinions about Phillip Lim's fall collection. I do like the move towards a more refined approach to fashion, but this season's collection seemed a little...old. The silhouettes were pretty conservative, and most of the pieces were relatively tame. I really liked the 2007 fall collection, and this one just didn't seem as fun and immediately wearable as that one. I did really like Irina's little leater jacket with maxi dress. Transparency is a trend I'm really loving, and that dress seems more like the polished but not too stuffy prettiness I'm used to seeing from Phillip Lim. I haven't yet mustered the courage to wear a maxi dress like that. It's pretty hard to find flattering ones, especially since I'm pretty tiny. All in all I'm a little disappointed with this collection. There. A collection I'm not so excited about.
